What project(s) in Sex Ed are you currently working on?In May 2013, I was certified as a trainer for the middle and high school levels of Our Whole Lives (OWL), a renowned sexuality education program developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ. The OWL program has been integral in my career development, and I am excited to start conducting weekend-long trainings to help facilitators prepare to teach this valuable curriculum for teenagers in both faith-based and community settings.

Kirsten deFur received her Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, concentrating in Sexuality & Health. She is a certified trainer for the Middle/High School and Adult/Young Adult Our Whole Lives sexuality education program. Kirsten has presented several workshops at the CFLE’s Sex Ed Conference, specifically on the topics of pleasure, examining fear-based methods, and overcoming shaming rhetoric. Three of her lesson plans can be found in the newest, award-winning edition of Teaching Safer Sex. Kirsten currently works for the NYC Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence as the Director of the NYC Healthy Relationship Training Academy. She also writes about sexuality education on her blog, www.fearlesssexualityeducator.com. In her free time, Kirsten plays volleyball, goes bike riding, and tries out new recipes.
